Waves of Conscience

Waves of Conscience is a social and environmental  program, looking to make positive changes in people's lives by promoting messages of health and the environment to small communities in Mexico. We bring surfboards and other equipment to kids in impoverished regions to motivate them to stay healthy, out of trouble, and connected with the environment.

Mission
Leading by example and with positive role models, we aim to inspire respect for oneself and others, to take responsibility for one's actions and to always be aware of one’s impact on the planet.

History
On our family road trip down to Mexico in late 2018, we collected old surfboards and surf equipment from friends and brought these to a low income community near Acapulco, Mexico. We decided to bring the local kids together for a fun, educational day of outdoor activities and environmental learning. We introduced daily activities such as yoga, breathwork and healthy lifestyle choices in hopes that they may incorporate them into their daily lives.
17 kids between the ages of 7 and 16 took part in this experience. We also collaborated with Surfeando Sonrisas a Nonprofit supporting kids.
The donated surfboards are stored at the local surf shop for the kids to use.

How we do it

We collect use equipment and repair for the kids in need.

If you are in our way down to Mexico, we pick up the equipment and make sure everything gets down to where these kinds need it. If you are not in the way you can send it to the address we have in the USA and we make sure to bring it down.

The surf boards stay at the local surf shop, that way it's easy to know who is using and taking care of the equipment, and also to give longer life to the boards, and teach the kids to share with the community.

Once we are in Mexico and the boards and equipment have been repair the day activity goes this way:

Yoga

Morning warm up exercises

Introduction to Power Muscle exercises

Pre Surf talk with the guests

Group Surf with our friends of Surfeando Sonrisas

Hydration and healthy breakfast
